NAD+ and anti-aging: what do trials prove?
The human studies discussed here investigate selected biomarkers, tolerability and short-term functions. They do not establish that a NAD+ product extends human lifespan or reverses aging. A longevity promise goes beyond those measured outcomes.

What does anti-aging mean on a product page?
The phrase can mean a change in appearance, a biological marker, physical function, disease risk or length of life. These are separate outcomes. A page that moves between them without saying so can make a narrow study sound like evidence for a much larger promise. Begin by asking the seller to define the result it says the product delivers.
A useful definition should be measurable and relevant to a person. A laboratory change may help scientists understand a pathway, but a buyer needs to know whether it predicts something they value. A colorful longevity chart is not a substitute for that connection. The more ambitious the promise, the more demanding the evidence should be.
What short human trials actually investigate
The Martens NR study used a randomized crossover design in healthy middle-aged and older adults and investigated NAD+ metabolism, tolerability and exploratory physiological measures. The Conze NR study followed participants for eight weeks and measured whole-blood NAD+ and safety-related outcomes. Neither design measures whether people live longer over the years following purchase.
This does not make a short trial useless. Such studies can establish whether a biological response occurs and help guide later research. The problem arises when marketing removes the trial's time horizon. Six or eight weeks of observations cannot become a conclusion about decades of use merely because the pathway is associated with aging.

Animal and laboratory findings need a separate label
Research in cells and animals can investigate mechanisms under controlled conditions that would be difficult to reproduce in people. It is an important part of developing hypotheses. It does not tell a consumer that a commercially available capsule, patch or injection will reproduce the result. Species, exposure, formulation and outcome all affect how far a finding can travel.
For example, the captured 2026 transdermal delivery paper includes laboratory work, skin explants and a worm lifespan experiment. Those are the models it tested. Describing it as a human longevity trial would change the study into something it was not. Even human skin studied outside the body is different from a clinical outcome in a person.

Biological-age claims need their own evidence
A biological-age score is a model output rather than a direct observation of remaining lifespan. Before accepting an improvement, ask what the test measures, how reproducible it is and whether a change is validated for the decision being proposed. A lower number after a purchase does not by itself establish that the purchase has added healthy years.
The same scrutiny applies to a package that combines an intervention with several tests. If the seller chooses whichever marker improved after the fact, the result is harder to interpret. A stronger study defines the outcome in advance, includes a suitable comparator and explains uncertainty. A stronger consumer page tells you when those elements are missing.
A more useful way to compare longevity claims
Separate the seller's service quality from the evidence for the molecule. Clear pharmacy information, sensible support and transparent cancellation terms are useful purchasing facts. They do not prove an anti-aging effect. Likewise, a study published in a respected journal does not validate a different seller's formulation or every promise on its website.
Ask a clinician how the proposed intervention fits your health priorities and whether better-established preventive care should take precedence. The important question is not whether NAD+ is involved in aging biology; it is what reliable human evidence supports the particular decision you are considering. Keeping that distinction visible makes a comparison more useful and less dependent on a sweeping promise.
- Is the claim about lifespan, function, appearance or a biomarker?
- Were the subjects people, animals, cells or skin explants?
- How long were people followed?
- Does the exact commercial product match the researched intervention?
Sources and scope
These are selected studies and official sources relevant to the question above, rather than a systematic review of every published paper. A finding applies to the people, ingredient, route and outcomes studied. This guide provides education, not a diagnosis or medical advice.
